Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope you are enjoying the sunshine and warm weather this summer. As we continue to strive for excellence in our school, we are excited to announce a new program aimed at enhancing both the academic and social experiences of our students. Valley Christian High School will be instituting a cell phone-free policy during school hours by implementing a program called Yondr.
Our commitment to fostering an environment conducive to learning has led us to explore solutions for managing cell phone use. The Yondr Program utilizes a simple, secure pouch that stores a phone, and this tool has proven effective in schools across the nation. By securely storing student’s cell phones in these pouches during school hours, we are creating an environment that minimizes distractions, enhances engagement, and encourages social and emotional growth.
Benefits of Yondr Pouches
● Focused Learning Environment: Students are less likely to be distracted by social media, messaging, or other non-educational content during class time. This allows them to focus on their schoolwork and participate in lessons.
● Increase in Social Interactions: Removing cell phones helps students engage more with their peers. Without the constant presence of devices, students are encouraged to develop stronger interpersonal skills and build meaningful relationships.
● Growth in Social and Emotional Skills: Our school’s mission includes promoting social and emotional growth. By fostering an environment where face-to-face interactions are prioritized, we support students in developing important life skills such as communication and empathy.
Every student will secure their phone in a personally assigned Yondr pouch when they arrive at school. Phones will be powered off and placed inside the pouch and securely locked during school hours. The students will maintain possession of their personal Yondr Pouch throughout the school day. At the end of the school day, students will unlock their pouches to access their phones.
Important Information
● If a student needs to access a phone during the school day, they may do so by visiting the high school office.

We encourage you to discuss the benefits of this policy with your child and emphasize the positive impact it will have on their overall experience at school.
If you have any questions or concerns about the Yondr Pouches, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are confident that this initiative will contribute to a more focused school environment for our students.
